Fall Morning

There is a feeling of loss as the long shadows of morning fade to shorter shadows of afternoon. It feels like the day is half over when morning has passed into afternoon, especially if nothing has been accomplished in the morning. The pressure of less hours remaining in the day to accomplish all that needs to be done before the work week begins looms over me like a dark cloud on a rainy day.

Having said that, however, today should be a lovely day. The sun is shining, although it is a chilly fall day. There is not a breath of air moving the leaves on the trees, which is a nice change from the very windy days we have the past couple of days.

Shortly, I will leave to pick up my grandson who asks almost weekly if he can come over to spend time with us. He is 13 and quite autistic, though functions well, in most every situation other than socially. He has a good sense of humor and likes to play Monopoly with me. He is the banker every time because he is so good and quick with numbers. I am thankful he wants to spend time with us.

No matter what you have planned for today, enjoy the sights and aroma of fall in the air. If there are not any. Create some! Bake ginger cookies or pumpkin bread. Make hot apple cider to quench your thirst. Or go for a walk where you know you will be able to hear the crunch of leaves under your feet.

Happy November!

  1. He’s lucky to have a grandma that let him be himself and let him excel in things he’s good at. I had a grandma like that growing up too. Keep up the good work!
